Vegas Marathon 08

Vegas Marathon 08, originally uploaded by dishevld.

You know you had a great Sunday when you can spend the whole day in your pajamas...

After crawling out of bed around 10:30am, I made myself a coffee and proceeded to look at the photos from our Vegas trip in December. 12 hours later, I was still at it. Damn that photoshop... you can't be 'happy' with just a snap shot anymore. You've got to tweak this, tweak that. Blur that line, remove that spot. Crop, cut, re-expose... it never stops. Suddenly you realize that you've been working on a picture for an hour that no one will blink an eye at. I guess it's fun though or I wouldn't be doing it. I just wish I was better at it. Right now I know I'm hacking through it but with a little knowledge, you can do some fantastic stuff.

Anyway, the Vegas pictures are done thank goodness. The shot above was taken by Spanky. He and Bettycola were great enough to get up with us at... 4am!... to see us off at the start of the race. Spanky took my camera and shot some picks. He did a great job. Thanks guys for being there!

Running down the strip in Vegas was certainly a memorable event. It certainly made the first 7 km pass with ease. Well, relative ease anyway.

I'll grab a small handful of pictures from the trip and post up on Flickr hopefully tonight.

Oh, another thing we did on the weekend was go see Clint Eastwood's Grand Torino with our friend Ian. I have to say, we all really enjoyed it. Only Clint can play a part like this. He is a recent widower and a Korean War vet, with very 'traditional' values of a bye-gone America who has seen his suburban, middle America neighbourhood fall into slums. The majority of his neighbours are now Asian who he wants nothing to do with but finds himself drawn into their tumultuous lives.

And if you can believe it, it's actually very funny. Unless of course you get upset over racial slurs. Actually, if you do, you should definitely see this movie.
